Scratch DJ Academy
No
need to prove that Odoo fits all kinds of business, regardless the
size, the sector or the products! Here is a new good example of Odoo
flexibility. Most of you should know about the famous rap band from the 90's Run DMC, but do you know about the Scratch Academy?
Christopher Knight, software developer at the academy, explains us their use of Odoo.

Scratch
DJ Academy was founded in 2002 debuting as a partnership between Rob
Principe and Jam Master Jay of Run DMC. Scratch Academy was a new-found
way to pass down a craft otherwise only accessible from knowing a DJ in
the industry.
While
the company has grown its talent network to thousands of DJ's working
in the weddings, events, and hospitality industry - ultimately the
underlying goal of the business remains the same: lowering the barriers
to entry for anyone interested in learning the art of DJ’ing or Music
Production.

What challenges did the company face before they implemented Odoo, and what specific needs were addressed by the solution ?
The
business evolved to 6 academies in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami,
Philadelphia, Atlanta, and New York. Each location has a team of
instructors, sales staff, and managers. There was natural siloed
progress within each academy to increase efficiency, but this lead to a
decoupled sales & reporting foundation across all the locations.
We
were in the search for a Sales Pipeline platform that could: replace
our current bulky CRM, help us to track our class inventory, and provide
a flexible API to build custom web apps on top of.
What solution was delivered?
We
predominantly utilize Odoo for the Sales, Marketing, and Events Apps.
These help us with maintaining consistency in our process & metrics
across the 6 academies nationwide.
We
have leaned heavily on the malleable API within Odoo, building out a
completely custom web app with Ruby On Rails. We use utilize Odoo as our “data bucket” that houses all our Customer Data & synced inventory of classes.

What's new in Odoo POS?
Along
with the new Odoo Online 2015 Summer Release come various updates and
improvements to our already well-featured Point Of Sale. But what kind
of improvement?
Well,
what we really did is fit into your shoes. We worked out what were the
main challenges that you, behind your shop's cashier or in your
restaurant hall, were facing. And with that in mind, we developed whole
new functionalities to help out with the trickiest parts of the job and
to keep your service to the top!
So, what's new?
POS Restaurant
The
main change is surely the special Restaurant interface from within the
POS. To make things simpler, we decided to create a fully customizable
floor design where you can add all your tables, determine the number of
seats around each table, give it a colour, a name and place it exactly
as it is in real-life.
But that is definitely not the only improvement. We decided to make the ordering even quicker and easier with a seamless interface between the hall, the kitchen, the bar… You can now use a printer in each of these places, so that when you place an order for a table, it is automatically printed in the kitchen and bar. No more delay, no more misunderstanding, all orders are written down and well understood by everyone!
Another
new feature that restaurants will adore is the ability to split bills.
It's very common to get tables full of people that each want to pay for
exactly what they ordered, and most of the time, Point Of Sale systems
don't allow to do that. Well, that is no longer the case for Odoo POS!
You can now create new separate bills from orders placed at one table
and let people each pay their part separately.
Among
other functionalities for the POS are the possibility to print a bill
before it is paid, and you can now also easily manage tips given to your
personnel.
Other POS improvements
Added
to the POS Restaurant, we also brought some other improvements to the
normal POS that will help you deliver even better service.
Want
to reward your customers, and eventually drive engagement from them to
keep them as customers? It's now a simple task thanks to a complete
integration of loyalty programs! You can create a rewarding system with
points, and customize the way the points are awarded. Give points for
visits, for products, for amounts spent, and create bonuses and
discounts when reaching a certain level.
Another
function we added is the possibility to offer discounts on the fly.
When adding products to the order, just one click on the Discount button
allows you to place the amount discounted.
We
also took care of the POS interface to make it easier to use, faster,
and better looking. We've created shortcuts to product categories so you
can find exactly what you are looking for more easily and quickly.
All in all, these new features will make sure you can:
- Deliver orders placed in restaurants more easily, faster, and with less error
- Answer any tricky requests in terms of split bills
- Create a long-lasting relationship with your customers
- Save more time with a sleek, simple and powerful interface

Odoo releases a new CRM mobile app One of the best CRM mobile apps on the market
The
new Odoo CRM for mobile phones allows you to manage opportunities on
the go. Every salesperson will enjoy using it. Even though this new
mobile app is still in beta version, it already has all the features and
benefits that we can expect from a great mobile CRM app:

The
look and feel of the CRM mobile app is very impressive. With a clean
interface, we've been able to build a strong CRM app. This interface is
based on elements of Google. Indeed, we really wanted users to feel as
though they're in a familiar environment - making the on-boarding easier
and keeping the user experience recognizable.

A
familiar environment means users can easily navigate through the
different sections. In a business market where mobility is essential,
we've released a mobile app that is incredibly effortless in its use and
set of features. That helps you gain more productivity and agility in
your sales - typing on the fly and saving the most relevant information.
Plus, the first screens introduce the key features and demonstrate how-to navigate into the mobile app.

- OPERATING SYSTEM - Odoo CRM mobile app is currently available for Android. You can download the app from Google Play.
- SYNCHRONIZATION - On installation, data (customers, leads, agenda, etc.) is instantly pulled from the web app to the mobile app. Useful and intuitive, synchronization is done according to your use. Odoo mobile CRM can be used offline and once reconnected to the internet everything is synchronized automatically. So, for example, if you meet prospects at a networking event but you don't have internet, don't worry - you'll still be able to create new leads and schedule calls or meetings. And all the information will be available in your Odoo web account once you've reconnected to the internet!
- COMPLETE SALES CYCLE - Thanks to our CRM mobile app, the complete sales flow (from leads to sales orders) is in your hands at all times. Everything works seamlessly and managing your sales cycle on the go becomes easier.
- BUILT-IN CALENDAR - As I already mentioned above, you can schedule calls and appointments with leads and opportunities. These meetings are available in the built-in calendar. Moreover, you receive reminders for all meetings and scheduled calls and can be guided to a client's office on Google Maps.
